Barn Owl

An uncommon resident & breeding bird to the nearby farmland.

Singles often seen from 31/01/60.

1965 - Probably bred around the reservoir area.

26/07/66 - 2 birds whilst breeding.

06/04/67 - Young birds heard to indicate that breeding took place this year. Young heard again on 27/04.

1970 - Single bird.

24/10/77 - Single bird.

1999 - Single bird seen on several dates in January, hunting over rough fields near the reservoir car park. (DWH).

06/02/99 - Single bird seen hunting over rough ground behind nearby cottages.

04/10/02 - Single pale looking owl seen briefly over the reservoir meadows.
