Pheasant

A resident yet unusual sight at the reservoir. This species has bred. Single birds often in the area but under-reported.

15/08/63 - Maximum count of 6+ birds.

11/11/99 - Single male bird seen in the hide!

2011 - More visible than in recent years with up to 8 birds seen

2012 - Max 5. A single male flew across the width of the reservoir on 07/12

2013 - Max 5. A single female flew across the width of the reservoir on 06/12

2014 - One or two seen sporadically through the year.

2015 - Up to 3 seen during the year including one in the hide on 29/03

2016 - One or two seen on 12 dates during the year

2017 - One or two seen on 15 dates during the year

2018 - One or two seen or heard on 13 dates through the year. Singles were seen to fly across the reservoir on 06/11 and 08/12

2019 - One or two seen or heard on 22 dates, mostly in the winter periods

2020 - One or two seen or heard on 24 dates

2021 - One to three seen or heard on 23 dates, mostly in the winter periods

2022 - One or two on only 9 dates, mostly through the winter

2023 - Singles reported on only 6 dates. Usually just heard, but one was seen walking across Buttercup Meadow on 07/04
