A regular and increasing visitor to the reservoir, usually in small numbers, but roosts may contain hundreds of birds.

06/02/84 - Maximum count of 36 birds, to roost

14/10/84 - 19 birds, to roost

2011 - 21 sightings of up to 4 birds

2014 - 14 sightings of 1 or 2 birds

2015 - 33 sightings of mostly 1 or 2 birds. 4 seen on 19/10

2016 - 46 sightings of 1 or 2 birds

2017 - 34 sightings of 1 or 2 birds

2018 - 28 sightings of 1 to 3 birds

2019 - 21 sightings of normally up to 4 birds, however there were roosts at dusk in both winter periods with 30+ on 18/02, 50+ on 06/11 (DWH), 20+ on 07/11 and c.40 on 02/12. 50 is a record number for the reservoir

2020 - Only recorded 5 times. 15+ on 01/01, 1 on 14/03, 4 on 17/10, 4 on 18/10 and 1 on 25/10

2021 - Regularly seen in smaller numbers. Roost found on 27/08 with about 40 birds along with 10 Yellow Wagtails! (DWH). c.25 Pieds with 6 Yellow Wagtails the next day. On 03/11 was a record count of 75+ birds (KGH), followed by 60+ on 04/11, c.50 on 06/11 and c.65 on 07/11

2022 - 1 or 2 sometimes seen outside of roosts. All records beaten this year with max of c.250 birds to roost on 03/12 (DWH). Also notable were 100+ on 01/10, 150+ bathing in SW corner on 09/10 and c.100 on 20/11 and up to 50 birds on other dates in the winter periods

2023 - A few singles outside of the roost which was present again during late October and through November. Roost may have started much earlier such as 6+ birds on 14/09. From 23/10 there were mostly between 100 and 150 birds to roost. Peak count was c.300 on 11/11, a record count (KGH)
