A local Crow with a broken bill predated the Swan nest when the
female left it for 10 minutes, but she came back and settled on

About -8 overnight and a large part of the water
was frozen. This always leads to a reduction in the number of Great
Crested Grebes and often an increase in some species such
as Teal. There were no birds at all on the platforms
and no Cormorants as I arrived. The 14 Cormorants
flew in and landed on the restricted open water while I was watching.

Also 2 very small warbler types at the base of the
half dead Oak tree near the information sign. Could have been Goldcrests
but looked very green, possibly Chiffchaffs, but again rather green,
perhaps too small and I thought I caught a glimpse of wingbar. I
never did get the binoculars on to them. They reminded me of Yellow-browed
Warblers, but probably something more common. Worth another look
tomorrow.
